Evaluation criteria
The compiled links were tested for their predominant suitability for students or for physicians as well as clinical chemists in continuing education. The criteria have been defined:
1. Students
Relevant topics that correspond to the subject catalogue or reflect the current state of science and technology in medicine or the biosciences.
2. Physicians, clinical chemists
Complex topics, which require a broad interdisciplinary medical prior knowledge and are suitable to be used in the context of specialist training or training as a clinical chemist.
New Licensing Regulations
The new Licensing Regulations for Physicians bring significant changes in the weighting of subjects, the structure of teaching, the presentation of teaching content and the organisation and conduct of examinations during the course of the studies. Overall, the universities are given more freedom in the design of teaching and examinations, but also in the weighting of subjects.
This can be seen for example in the explicit inclusion of alternative forms of study and teaching in the licensing regulations, encouraging the creation of model study courses as already initiated and established at some universities in Germany.
As a subject, clinical chemistry and laboratory medicine can make a significant contribution to forming faculty-specific focal points which will form a central element for the future recruitment of students.
For clinical chemistry and laboratory medicine, the interdisciplinary structuring of the teaching contents and the option of forming faculty-specific focal points provide additional opportunities to increase the importance of the subject as an integral part of medical education. The following overview presents the most important facts about the new licensing regulations, the transitional regulations and the consequences for clinical chemistry and laboratory medicine.
